Our Beginning
by Joey Gentempo,
Founder and Executive Director of His Father’s Heart Ministries
The seed for what is now His Father’s Heart Ministries was planted by a little girl who came to an Angel Tree Christmas Party in the jail that I was working at. I knew the little girl’s dad because I was his counselor in the jail.
As I saw the little girl approaching the Angel Tree, I got down on one knee, looked at her in this prison setting, and said to her “Honey, what do you want for Christmas?” This little five-year-old-girl had a big crocodile tear running down her face, and she said to me “I just want my daddy to come home and to stay.” That seed, that little tear, was sown into my heart by the Lord and that is what started His Father’s Heart Ministries.
The passion in me to heal the brokenhearted was really important to that little girl with tears in her eyes, and it is really important to Jesus.
It is crucial to reunite husbands and wives, sons and daughters, and fathers and mothers with their children when crime, sin, or the effects of trauma have separated them. This is the reason for what we do at His Father’s Heart Ministries and why we do it.

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.
Isaiah 61:1 (NIV)
